Beware of Card Fraud
As you are aware, we are constantly watching card activity for your security. Recently, we have seen an increase in fraudulent activity. Scammers reach out to you via phone calls or texts that appear to come from PEFCU. We would like to make sure that you spot the warning signs if a fake caller tries to get your account information.
Beware of Spoofing
Fraudsters have technology that enables them to mimic reputable businesses or government agencies to gain your trust. They can manipulate the caller ID so that calls and texts seem to come from PEFCU. They often ask you to verify unknown charges to get you to engage.
The PEFCU Fraud and Card Departments will reach out to our members via telephone and text messages when card transactions are suspicious. Our agents will request information to confirm we are speaking with the cardholder or for confirmation or denial of the transaction(s) made or attempted with your card number.
PEFCU Will Never Contact You to Request Personal Information
Please always keep the following in mind if someone contacts you claiming that they represent PEFCU:
- PEFCU will never ask for your credit or debit card PIN (Personal Identification Number).
- PEFCU will never ask you for your one-time PIN.
- PEFCU will never ask you for the three-digit security code on the back of your card.
- PEFCU will never ask you for your Online or PEFCU Mobile Banking credentials.
- PEFCU will never call and recommend you reply “Yes” to a text alert that asks if a fraudulent transaction is yours.
