History
Publix Employees Federal Credit Union began operation on March 21, 1957 with one office located in the Publix Super Markets Corporate Office in Lakeland, Fl. The Publix Credit Union was founded to serve the financial needs of Publix Super Markets associates and their families.
This year, 2007, PEFCU celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
Currently, there are 7 offices with the main office located in Lakeland, Fl only minutes from all Publix Offices and Warehouses. Other offices are located in Altamonte Springs, Pembroke Pines, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Jacksonville, and Norcross, GA. As well as 1 ATM located at the Publix Corporate Office in Lakeland, FL.
In 1979 PEFCU moved into our main office in Lakeland, Fl and by 1984 underwent construction to double in size. Then our last remodel of this office was in 1993 to add an additional wing with a 2nd story.
In 1977 PEFCU was converted from a State Charter to a Federal Charter. This means we moved from being regulated by the state to federal regulation. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government regulates and insures our Credit Union.
